Case Study: Upper Peninsula Recreation & Tourism Association
The primary mission of the UPTRA Web site is to provide travel consumers with up-to-date travel information on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The site allows all visitors to access in-depth information about the destination that will influence prospective leisure travel planners and tour operators to choose destinations in the Upper Peninsula for a day trip and/or overnight visit. The Web site content is the key in sparking and keeping the visitors’ interest by providing a wealth of information on activities and hospitality related services.
A feature of the UPTRA Web site is the Plan Your Trip Itinerary section. This application was included within the UPTRA Web site for visitors to utilize in planning their vacation or getaway to the U.P.
This section has been designed to allow visitors to build their own custom itinerary including attractions, recreation and places to stay in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Case Study: Crystal Mountain Resort – Tourism Destination
Crystal Mountain, the Midwest’s Premier Four-season Family Resort, is a family-owned year-round resort featuring 36 holes of championship golf, 45 downhill slopes, over 260 superb lodging units, dining and award-winning conference facilities. Crystal Mountain is located 28 miles SW of Traverse City, Michigan – an easy drive from Detroit and Chicago.
Using a mix of underground fiber and wireless transport, the Crystal Mountain Internet network was engineered to deploy Broadband services to the Crystal Mountain compound, which consists of their hotel, individual condo and residential units. The network schema developed for Crystal Mountain included the installation of wireless units and cat 5 cabling to connect fiber and wireless equipment. Network engineers monitor and provide 24/7 support to Crystal Mountain technical staff, residents and guests.
