Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association
The primary mission of the UPTRA Web site is to provide travel consumers with up-to-date travel information on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The site allows all visitors to access in-depth information about the destination that will influence prospective leisure travel planners and tour operators to choose destinations in the Upper Peninsula for a day trip and/or overnight visit. The Web site content is the key in sparking and keeping the visitors’ interest by providing a wealth of information on activities and hospitality related services.
A feature of the UPTRA Web site is the Plan Your Trip Itinerary section. This application was included within the UPTRA Web site for visitors to utilize in planning their vacation or getaway to the U.P.
- Request additional information from the businesses on their list
- Print their list
- View a map of the businesses added to their list
- Save their list for later by registering with the site and storing their Trip Planner.
The overall goal of the Plan Your Trip is to enable visitors to select their areas of interest of the variety of activities the region has to offer and plan their stay accordingly to ensure they have given themselves enough time in Upper Peninsula to enjoy their vacation or destination getaway.
Gaslight Media also incorporated our GLM Associate Package as the development platform of the UPTRA Web site.

Iron Mountain, MI---Tourism related businesses in the Upper Peninsula will be given a free listing on the new Web site of Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association (UPTRA).
“Our new Web site will be as inclusive as we can make it,” according to Tom Nemacheck, UPTRA Executive Director. “Consumers expect as much information as possible when visiting our region’s number one tourism Web site. Whenever we exclude anything we have to offer in our region we are giving people a reason not to come. This type of inclusiveness allows us to give them every reason to come.”
“We want every attraction, store, gas station, gift shop, restaurant, service etc….basically everything a tourist would be interested in to be on the new Web site,” said Nemacheck.
Regular members of UPTRA will continue to get an expanded listing on the Web site and a listing in the 88-page Upper Peninsula Travel Planner. This free offer does not include lodging facilities. Most lodging properties are members of UPTRA through room assessment collections and are given full listings on the both the Web site and in the Travel Planner.
Next year the Upper Peninsula Travel and Recreation Association will celebrate its 100th year in serving the region.
